As I travel around USA, I’m so impressed with the variety of climates and cultures. Spending most of my time in the Northeast, I’m always excited to experience an area so different from my own. Which is what makes the trip to Arizona so magical! In the middle of the arid desert, amongst all the sand and heat, there thrives a lively state, with beautiful nature , unique wildlife, and exciting city life.
One of my favorite cities to visit in Arizona is Tempe. Home to the University of Arizona, Tempe has a youthful energy to match the youthful population. The downtown has plenty of restaurants, breweries, and fun nightlife spots.
While in Tempe I stayed at the beautiful Canopy Tempe Downtown. Just steps away from Mill Ave shopping district, this luxurious and modern hotel has everything you need for the perfect Tempe experience. Their rooftop pool is perfect for cooling off from the Arizona sun, and the drinks from the poolside bar help too! If you’re in the mood for adventure, you can borrow some of the complimentary Canopy bikes, to explore downtown Tempe. After a full day of shopping, swimming, and sun I stopped by the Hotel’s restaurant Alter Ego. I went with the Ponzu Glazed Seared Salmon and Brick Oven Calabrian Shrimp, and both were absolutely delicious. I ended up the night with some Chocolate tres leches cake and wine.
For my next stop in Tempe I stayed at the Graduate Hotel Tempe. This was my second Graduate Hotel stay after Lincoln Nebraska. Getting to experience both hotels made me further appreciate Graduates attention to design and appreciation for local culture and decor. From Midwest to Southwest, each of these hotels had a unique state themed design. Graduate Hotel Tempe was appropriately decorated with scenes of the Southwest, Cacti, and native artwork. The hotels more modern amenities included their pool, pet friendly, and 24 hour gym!
Tempe is a must visit for anyone who wants to experience Arizona. The city has the best of both worlds, with a bustling and exciting downtown, surrounded by the beautiful desert landscape of the stunning Southwest. With plenty of hiking options, outdoor activities, restaurants, and nightlife there is never a dull moment in sunny Tempe.
Happy Traveling!
